Inappropriate Use of Veterinary Flea Products on Children

The South Australian Department of Health (SA Health) has released a public health alert to warn parents of the risks of using veterinary flea products to treat head lice on children and adults.

The South Australian Poisons Information Centre notified SA health about reports of people using concentrated topical liquid flea treatments and veterinary flea powders on children. The APVMA concurs with SA Health and advises that these products are strictly for animals only and should be used in accordance with label directions. For more information, please refer to the SA Health website.
